Fall 2011 will see the launch of Bike Doctor University. This comes from feedback from our customers who are wanting to learn how to build, fix, and maintain bicycles. We will be offering two levels of training. Novice and Intermediate.

Novice

8 hours of instruction, 2 students per class, 1 instructor

The course will cover how to maintain a bike, select the proper tools, attend to tires and tubes, true wheels, remove and replace cassettes, remove and inspect pedals, inspect a drive train, repair and maintain a chain, maintain, adjust and troubleshoot a derailleur, inspect, maintain and adjust brakes, and adjust seat posts, handlebars and stems. Students should come prepared to take notes.

Dates:

Session 1 Mondays 4-6pm November 21, 28, December 4, 6, 2011

Session 2 Thursdays 6-8pm November 24, December 1, 8, 15, 2011

Session 3 Fridays 1-3pm November 25, December 2, 9, 16, 2011

Session 4 Mondays 10am-12pm January 9, 16, 23, 30, 2012

Session 5 Mondays 1-3pm January 9, 16, 23, 30, 2012

Space is limited to two students per class, and you may only attend the classes in which you are registered. Cost: $250 including taxes, shop apron and Park Tool’s Big Blue Book of Bicycle Repair.


Intermediate

12 hours of instruction, 2 students per class, 1 instructor

This course will cover cable replacement, part replacement, hub assembly and replacement, wheel truing and spoke replacement, crank service and replacement, and bottom bracket inspection. Students should come prepared to take notes.

Space is limited to two students per class, and you may only attend the classes in which you are registered.

Cost: $325 including taxes
